Hi! And welcome.
I'm a freelance writer.
Until March 2017 I was the senior writer at Epicurious—now I'm doing a kind of at-large thing for the site—and in terms of other actual jobs I've had, I used to be the deputy editor at the Chicago Reader, where I oversaw the culture coverage and acted as the paper's copy chief.
In between, my work has appeared in the LA Review of Books, the Awl, the Chicago Tribune, Chicago magazine, and elsewhere. If you go to the clips page you'll see that I've written a bit about food, literature, visual art, history, and a bunch of other stuff besides. As it currently stands I'm sort of floating around, with my dog in tow—general geographic area: east of the Mississippi—and looking for things to write about.
Enthusiasms etc: books and magazines, country music, crosswords, ducks, dogs, The Chicago Manual of Style, midsize southern cities, pie, the environment, good writing.
Around here you'll find a little more about me, some clips, and a page that has a vague notion to become a blog. You can get in touch with me at samuel.lwe [at] gmail. And I'm on Twitter (@Samuel_Worley) and Instagram (@slworley).
