Hi! And welcome.
I'm a freelance writer and editor. In the past I've been a senior writer at the food website Epicurious and the deputy editor of the Chicago Reader, where I oversaw arts and culture coverage and acted as the paper's copy chief. I'm currently, if predictably, an MFA candidate in creative nonfiction writing at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
My work has appeared in the LA Review of Books, the Awl, the Chicago Tribune, Chicago magazine, and elsewhere. If you go to the clips page you'll see that I've written a bit about food, literature, visual art, history, and a bunch of other stuff besides. I live in Savannah, Georgia.
Enthusiasms etc: books and magazines, country music, water, crosswords, ducks, dogs, The Chicago Manual of Style, midsize southern cities, pie, the environment, good writing.
Around here you'll find a little more about me, some clips, and an irregularly updated blog. You can get in touch with me at samuel.lwe [at] gmail, unless you are a restaurant publicist, in which case please don't. And I'm on Twitter (@Samuel_Worley) and Instagram (@slworley).
